The Colossi of Memnon

Luxor, Egypt

The colossi are 15.6 metres high on bases of 2.3 metres.
They are images of Memnon, a Trojan hero killed by Achilles, called like this by the Greeks.
In reality, they belong to a much older temple, dedicated to Amenhotep (Amon Ofis) III.
