I know ... enough with the bicycling pictures already. Hey I'm practicing some new stuff and these pictures are a little tough to do. I'm gaining a healthy respect for sports photographers. Panning is kind of tough but I have been doing that with birds for some time. The really tough part is figuring what shutter speed to use to give some motion blur but not too much. Frozen wheels from a high shutter speed looks funny. Go too slow and camera shake starts to cause softness. The speed of the rider adds another dimension. Oh well I'll keep at it but won't bore the viewers with many more.

To answer your question, YES, I do get in a real training ride and YES, I do a lot of back and forthing just for Bill too. On the day this photo was taken, I had already gone for a 16 mile ride with My teammates early that morning. This shot was taken in the early evening. . . .I did some sprints back and forth for about 20 minutes so Bill could practice panning.

your panning is looking good as well as Wanda's new jersey. Just wondering tho, When Wanda goes for a ride, does she actually get to ride much or is it back and forth, back and forth in front of you so you can get a shot?

Wanda, your looking like a real pro, I'm glad to see your goal thermometer is slowly moving up. And let me throw in another plug so Bill doesn't have to ask again.

Come on everyone, let's help Wanda out by sponsoring her in her ride, it's for a good cause, and it's tax deductable ( in US ) We don't want to see those aching muscles go to waste.

Excellent work Bill! Panning with the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM must have had your arms burning after awhile.
