I can understand why some photographers pick weddings to devote their lives to. It may be the same reason why doctors chose OB/GYN. Well, at least with the OB part, one's practice is usually associated with very happy occasions. These doctors spend their lives taking care of relatively healthy patients. And, delivering babies is almost always a joyous event. Sure, there is still stress, but there is a unique type of reward.
Wedding photographers spend their lives capturing some of the happiest moments of peoples lives. They also play a role in the lives of the couple (and family) by providing a visual interpretation of the day to be enjoyed for the many years that follow.
I had a taste of this phenomenon today. It was a true joy to spend the day capturing images of Dianne and Kevin's wedding. Their families are so charming and warm...it is easy to see why Dianne and Kevin are so generous. They treated us more as friends rather than employees...always requested when they could have demanded. We sat with the guests and the chilean seabass was delicious.
The day was stressful but at the same time, invigorating. There was such love between Dianne and Kevin as well as throughout their families (as well as family of friends). I left the reception hall tonight exhausted but with a bit of optimism...as well as a smile.
I shot several hundred images so I have to post a few extras tonight.
