Or is society culpable for having failed them?
Is the prevailing social Darwinism - the survival of the fittest -
morally and humanistically defensible?
Or does society debase itself and drift towards barbarism
by abandoning its weakest citizens?
Does the paradigm of fierce competition in society lead to
major advances and evolutionary strides?
Or does this competitive impulse further compromise the weakest and most vulnerable,
and increase the stratification of society?
