I can't use my Canon 10-22mm on my new 5D,
so it's up for sale.

:(

I'm in real dilemma over what to get as a replacement..
especially as I like the really wide end, 10-16mm..
think I liked the idea of a Zeiss 15mm 3.5, but its
almost imposible to track one down, and I heard they
can sometimes hit the mirror on a 5D.

You should be able to use this on the 5D. Have you tried it?
