That's Piedmont on the right! My wife Carol is on the left. For those of you contemplating the purchase of a cockatoo, beware.
Owning a cockatoo is like owning a lifetime 2-year old. Ours is a an incredible noisemaker, constantly shrieking to
demand attention. Your hearing will diminish as time goes on. Also, you will have to put your cockatoo in your
will. We have read that their lifespan is anywhere from 40 to 75 years. Piedmont is only about 25!
I may finally have peace in my life when I hit 85! Still, we love him dearly.
On November 17, 2016 we took Piedmont to the Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary in Hudson, Florida, where he will be able to
live his remaining years with other cockatoos and where he will be given outstanding care.
