The suggested change might be avoided if the growers marketed their apples when they're picked rather than insisting on gassing them, waxing them and placing them in cold storage until they're devoid of all flavor and have the consistancy of wood pulp! Personally, I'd be will to pay as much of a crisp, crunchy Empire or MacIntosh as I do for a gallon of gas!
