Well, since I'm subjecting you to doves once again, I figured I'd at least get creative in my post-processing. I wish I'd had more room to the right to desaturate, but, alas, that was the edge of the image. Post-processing was to select the two squares, invert selection, fill with black, shrink the selection by 5 pixels, then use the history brush (which I had often read about but never tried out) to remove all the black (except the part where I had reduced the selection), this created the black border around the squares. I then darkened and desaturated the selection. And the rest was the usual post-processing, resize, USM, signature, border. And there you are :)
