Nature's Heat*
by Denise

Calistoga, CA

Would you believe "Old Faithful of California" in Calistoga. We have avoided this tourist trap for years, but I couldn't resist going there to shoot the geyser for this Challenge. Actually, it was bigger and better than I ever expected. It erupts every 40 minutes or so but yesterday was erupting every 5 minutes....so how many images do I have ;-)) It shoots 60 feet into the air and comes out of the ground at 350 degrees farenheit.

To see why I called it a tourist trap ;-)) >>HERE<<

Very nice shot, Denise. I bet it is hanging on some wall.

Great shot!

I hope to see something like that, one day, also!

This is such an interesting image Denise; nature is just so amazing! It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who said "The method of nature: who could ever analyze it?" This is really a nice shot with perfect focus. I like the reflections in the water too. Nice capture and a great one for this challenge!

Very beautiful work.

Nice shot, Denise. With due apology, I do not agree with you Katherine that the water looks cool in the scene. In fact, the sharp details of water flow and that of its drops ( Off course 1/800s played its role here) has clearly saparated both from hot smoke, oozing out of water. Well, in any case, the shot is attractive and was worth travelling to this dangerous "tourist trap"

Beautiful capture of the geyser! I love the colors and clarity of details. I'm amazed the water is that hot - the scene to me looks like it's cold.
