2006.03.19 Bamboo scaffold

(At the corner of Johnston Rd & Gresson St, WanChai.)
I'm amazed every time I see a tall bamboo scaffold. And of course I can't resist the visual texture...

Joe: yes, the 10mm lens on this camera is equivalent to about 16mm on a 35mm camera. This shot was not cropped.

Although you can't easily tell, because of the extreme wide angle, the awning at the front of the shot is only 1-2 metres above me. A disadvantage of such wide angles is that if any one thing is to be prominent in the shot, it generally needs to be extremely close.

That's pretty amazing... the angles work, but without the caption I never would have noticed it was all bamboo. Maybe if there was a bit nearer foreground or something. So you need a really wide wide to get this kind of shot?
