Southern Guinea fowl (originally introduced in the early 1800s from African) now located in various part of North Alabama and in some cases domesticated in rural farm settings. This bird nests in trees and when spooked flies in an almost vertical position on take-off. Guineas are very territorial and barks a loud very noticable alarm call when strange animals or people enter their area.
