of Boracay. No, this is not the state of Georgia. This is
the state of President Gloria Arroyo. Or to be more Filipino,
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Gloria is a tough cookie,
she has to be to be the president of the Philippines! Hindered
by an election scandal, and even a coup attempt while I was in
the Philippines, Mrs. Arroyo's future as president is in turmoil
to say the least. According to many Filipinos I spoke to, they say
they are not particularly fond of Gloria, as they called her, but
added that if she were to lose power, they seriously doubt anyone
would do a better job in the long corrupted political atmosphere
of the Philippines.
