You can change, delete, add any time up to challenge closing. I suggest you replace the photo (rather than delete) so you don't loose the comments.
As is, this looks like a facinating object with a lot of potential, but it looks a bit 'flat'. As bugzie suggests, different lighting would probably add some depth to the shot.
I am anxious to see your new version.

Thank you for the encouragement, this was shot raw and I have since got better colour from it, am I allowed to change it?

This is great. You have good composition and excellent lighting of a facinating subject. For me, a good picture tells a story but makes you want to know more. It was probably a clock (or perhaps a machine. How old is it and how did it get in this condition? It looks a bit unsharp, but that is probably due to the large amounts of dust. Well done! JeffryZ
