This was another "Top 3" bird on my list, that I had a lot of doubt about.

We lucked into them in two different spots. The 1st birds were found on the grounds of the Santa Ysabel Mission, where this male was photographed. We had at least 8 birds here, and later had a flock of 20 or so working a weedy field in the Cuyama Valley, along Foothills Rd. I even got to hear the birds sing a little bit.
