This photo is so wholesome. Preparing and enjoying boiling hot tea on a cold morning in a place like this is a powerful feeling, pleasure and memory. As rough or crude as the tea may or may not be, it's profoundly delicious. Food for the heart ... food for the soul. I enjoy this photo at least as much as everytime I have already looked at it. Even now, I can feel the warmth in my hands for the pleasurable moments that no doubt follow this image.

Interesting custom and so nicely photographed.

I doubt if it's his tea brewing but I bet he wanted some. I like the improvised burner looks like it' been made from an old oil container. Great shot Kal.

Yes, the pot teeters dangerously, as if an omen of times ahead, but the man, smiling confidently, appears ready to face the day. It still looks dark and damp and grey, but sometimes just a cuppa's all that's needed to brighten the day.

The pot looks like slipping away from the fire.. It supposes to be a relaxed mood having a cup of tea, but I feel there is a hidden danger in the picture.

Tea is such a dignified choice of beverage. Most of the other drinks tend to lend themselves to a fast paced world but not tea. Tea is the drink to sit and relax and talk about the day or what the day will bring. It is the drink for music, jazz or classical. A little Bach or some cool Miles not too harsh. Sugar or not, milk or not, whatever way you like it. Tea is a wonderful drink. A good cup of tea takes time and can be brewed anywhere, even in a back alleyway on a makeshift burner. V

Splendid composition Kal.
When I see this shot, I'm thinking of how long and how easy it takes me to make a tea
and how long it must take there... probably again, a world of differenee...

A perfect example of subject/context relationship, Kal. Without the stove, the man in the background means relatively little. And without that man, it's just a picture of a stove in the street. But this shot puts them together to give the image a sense of place.

This is perfect Kal. This event is everywhere, every day, and an event that's so dear to our hearts as we start our day. I've seen it so many times and I have never once thought to take a picture. Now that I'm back in my own cocoon here in San Diego, your images bring back a rush of feelings, smells, sights and memories. You hit the nail on the head again with this one.

Great angle, light and DOF. I love the expression of the man too.

Great shot Kal. Love the b&w, composition and focus of the kettle. You have got the essentials in this image - taken it from an angle that cuts out all other distractions. You have captured an image that could be from another time.
