Located at 4000', this ski area did not open last year with the poor snowfall. It makes it up by having the best lighting for night skiing and being closer to Portland than other areas. The lights are brighter than anything I have seen in Colorado, Canadian Rockies or Wisconsin, though that was sometime ago.

Timberline ski area is at 6000' with some runs dropping down below the lodge and some climbing 7000' (or more when the palmer is open) which is quite high for the Pacific Northwest.
