Iraqi Girl / 4 February 06

I loved this image when he send this to me. I think that the wire surrounding the girl and the young girl smiling in the picture is such a compelling photograph. I think maybe because women in Iraq slowly escape the imprisonment from men to become individuals whom make their own decisions.

Beautiful image of this child who possibly has a better future than her mother did. I salute the man who took this photo, also.

A very expressive but troubling picture. The focus is excellent, almost too clear given the content.

When I think of all the things this young girl has seen in her short life...my heart breaks. What an impactful image. Recall all the photographs we usually see on pbase, of people and families around the world, typically in beautiful settings with faces full of smiles and laughter. Then this young girl behind razor wire! What a world! Thank God, but for His grace there stands my granddaughter! Why need it be? Why?
