Preston Pele Tower

Rich in history, this Pele tower was built by Sir Robert Hardcastle in 1392. The first known event of Sir Robert is a murder in 1392 when in the service of the Constable of Berwick, for which he received a pardon. In 1513, two generations later, Sir Guischard Harbottle was slain in a hand to hand combat with King James IV of Scotland, at the battle of Flodden. Prestons daughter Eleanor married Sir Thomas Percy. Their son became The Earl of Northumberland who was executed in 1572 for his part in tne Nothern rebellion.

Breathtaking capture with the mood of a thousand year history. And special thanks for the comment that guides me through centuries.

Nice shot. I visiyed this tower on my last holiday, but did not get such a nice shot as yours. The history is nice also.

A very nice picture, and a good history.
