This little guy was chasing a bird and flew into a glass door (even though the door had large stickers on it to help prevent such accidents). It temporarily knocked the breath out of him, but within a few minutes he was fine, and went flying back into the woods. Later I measured the step he was resting on. It is 9 1/2 inches from front to back. If the bird's head were down the bird would probably measure about the same distance. This shows just how small male Sharp-shinneds are.
