It looks a bit unnatural, but still I like it very much. Just one thing - I like it better with the shore cropped out - just the sea, sky, moon and it's reflection.

WOW Justin, this is absolutely gorgeous!! I love all the different blues and the reflection on the water!!

I remember that night - I was in the High Sierra amazed at how bright the snow was! Thanks for sharing another shot of it!

Hey John. This was a rare occasion last year when the moon was full during its apogee, or closest point to earth. People all over the country were watching this - including several dozen other people sitting on the beach with me. The clouds gave us a fright, as they covered up the moon as it came up over the ocean horizon - but eventually it rose high enough to clear the clouds and you could see how huge it looks. It is also a strange phenomenon that the moon looks much larger when it is in the first few degrees above the horizon than when it is high in the sky...something to do with refraction and atmospheric magnification that's above my head! I initially tried some full zoom shots, which were just moon...but decided that some more water and coastline might give it better perspective, so I zoomed to about 2.5x. I did have to blend two exposures to keep the sky and water detail and not blow out the moon. It was quite a sight!

Awesome! How did you get the moon so big? Using the telephoto add-on lens? And then resize and crop? There's just about the perfect array of clouds for the moon to show its effect in the sky and an incredible silver trail in the water. Totally "bad" image.

Thanks Tabrizi and Sonny,

Guarav...I did blend two exposures for this one...the full moon is so unbelievably bright! I was on tripod sitting on the beach when I shot this - I exposed one for the moon and one for the rest of the scene. The EXIF is showing the scene exposure...the moon I believe was all the same EXIF but F8.

BTW - the title, in case you didn't know, I chose from a song by an old rock band, Creedence Clearwater Revival. I thought it sounded cool! :)

Justin - you have done a good job with this one - (i'm assuming you blended 2 images for the moon exposure?). I am not sure about the title though - its a beautiful moon rising to me :)

This is a fine capture of a beatiful moonrise, Justin! It's almost surreal! Just love the shimmer and the moonlight reflection in the water.
