This is a wonderful image, Gayle, and the sand is the "finishing touch!" (Can't stop looking at it!) shu

GAYLE!! Stunning image - what intensity!!! The eyes are amazingly intenst and sublimely captured. I LOVE the sand grains - it adds location to the image and a touch of interestingness. Perfect DOF. You confused me for a sec with this guy - I was pretty sure he wasn't yours, but he could have passed. LOL! Outstanding work here! BTW, it also works excellently cropped just below the chin. ~ Lonnit

Riveting stare from the young man. Terrific portrait. --Mr. Biscuit

Victor, I was using a Tamron 1.4X teleconverter, which gives a focal length of 280mm with a 200mm lens.

Wonderful picture, and I agree with most of what Traveller said. I'm wondering, though. How'd you squeeze 280mm out of a 200mm lens? -- Victor

My goodness your children have the most beautiful eyes. What an expression!

Children can make the most remarkable faces and have such intense looks for being so young. Beautiful eyes which add to the intensity. The sand is just a bonus :) jstrong

They are a little Uni-Gender at that age, aren't they?....lol. Still, sun lotion or not, this is very, very intense. (to me). Best Wishes, Traveller

Trav, first off it's a he, not a she. This is my 7 yo nephew Brodie, a most delightful young man.
The glare was because his mother was holding him captive while she applied more sunscreen. He'd much rather have been back in the water swimming. We were at the beach, hence the sand on his eyebrow.

Dearest Gayle: Please don't take this wrong, but this is not only an interesting portrait, but also a bit disturbing. It is the intensity of the....glare(?)...into the future(?)...that unsettles. More to the point does she have a right to look with such steelly eyes?

I also wonder about the sand flecks on her upper left eyebrow...but they do add a certain 3 dementional texture. Great work...but also spooky...lol...Best Wishes, Traveller

What a superb portrait, the shadow line is just perfect to support the look of the eyes, great one!
