Some 11 kilometers from the new city lies a town - Battalgazi, still 11.000 people - that "was" Malatya until the city was moved.

This is the Silahtar Mustafa Paşa Hanı, a caravansarai now mainly used for a football ground (though some ceremony had taken place inside the covered part recently, which may explain why - rather then in 1998 - I found it closed).
