Hi Fred!
The softness in the image is due to several factors: it was very early in the morning, very low light, foggy, I was using a 600 mm lens (shallow depht of field), very high ISO (1600!!!!), not to mention the fact I was panning in order to keep the composition.
Also, I forgot the fact that it was in the low 20's and my hands were frozen and I was probably shaken so this added a little bit of motion as well.....he, he.
