Extreme Avalanche Danger 01_04_06.jpg

Wanda and I spent the afternoon snow shoeing high up on the Wasatch Plateau http://www.pbase.com/image/54416899

This area; east of Manti, Utah has an average elevation of about 9000 feet above sea level. We have had a number of storms the last few days with lots of snow and high winds. i would say there was about four to five feet of snow on the flats.

The avalanche danger is extremely high on the ridges and steep slopes. This shot was taken near the top of a ridge where a small slide had already occurred. We stayed out where it was not too steep.

Almost back to the car http://www.pbase.com/image/54418732
And another photo by Wanda...now this is a snowblower http://www.pbase.com/slowpokebill/image/54417934
