MIA used to get military aircraft diversions whenever Homestead Air Force Base's single runway became unusable due to an incident (blown tires, etc.) and there were fuel critical aircraft in the air. Sometimes we would get four to eight aircraft one right after the other and we parked them on the Cargo City ramp, formerly known as the military ramp.
