Situated within the Valley Forge National Historical Park, just off state route 252, Knox Bridge probably collects more "oohs" than any other Pennsylvania bridge. It is a distinctive and pretty bridge in one of the most picturesque areas, with an unusual open design, and, all in all, one of the finest bridges in the area. The origin of the name is not known; General Henry Knox and Senator Philander Knox have their partisans. In October, 1994, the bridge was slated for restoration by PennDOT, largely because of a deteriorated roof and some problems of stream erosion. This will make the bridge less picturesque while the restoration is in progress, but is clearly needed.
