George McKenna

I am a pilot and every year I attend and volunteer at the Fly-in at Lakeland,FL. This is a picture of a WWII P-38 fighter during one of the airshows. The plane has been rescued from under the ice in Greenland where it had made a forced landing while being ferried to Europe during WWII. While I got good defination using my 300mm, I found I had used too high a shutter and as a result the prop was stopped in the picture. Next year I'm going to try it with a slower shutter speed to show some blurring of the prop.

Forgot to add to my previous comment what an excellent shot this is. I knew from the thumbnail it had to be Galcier Girl.

Glacier Girl may not be airborne again. The man that financed the restoration died in September and it is very expensive to insure this P-38. $65,000/year for every $2 million of coverage. It is worth $10 million.
