Well, it's that time of the year when nature shots are hard to come by - for me anyway. I know that Freeman Patterson has said that this time of the year is one of his favorites for outdoor photography but I don't see it. That said, it's the time of the year when I try different things indoors - mostly not very good. This is a work in progress; I can see possibilities but need to work on a few things such as the background that appears in each of the circles (hemispheres). I think it would be better as a solid color rather than the red with a dark border, but I don't have a large enough red background for now.
You could look at this for a long time and probably never guess what it is. All done in the camera; no Photoshop. 30 second exposure with a 1:1 macro lens. The area you're looking at is about 2-3 inches wide.
