The Background
I am doing this in oil and it takes days to dry.
I don't know how to avoid the glare of the wet paint.

any advice?

Try bouncing the flash towards the ceiling. Reflective lighting is the key. I love how you are emphasizing in the shadows of the wings. Amazing Donna.
