Dec 27: Found under a tree

I consider a remote release is an essential bit of kit for tripod work. Not one of those useless infra-red wireless toys, but a proper wired remote. I’d made one for my old EOS300 film camera, which also worked on the 50E and 300D, but alas, not on the 20D which has a non standard connector. I’d ordered the remote for the 20D ages ago, but they were out of stock and I’d been making do with the self timer ever since... a poor substitute. This one is a Christmas pressie from my parents and is a joy to use. D70 owners will have to look on with envy as bizarrely, Nikon didn't consider a wired remote a necessity. Duh! Even my Olympus Trip can use a cable release!

Good dift! I should look at one, too. You're right, the timer is no fun.
