Chauncey High was known all over the state of Georgia - especially for its basketball teams. Chauncey would advance in the state playoffs, even in a day when basketball had no classifications and they had to play large city schools. If I remember correctly one year they had to play Athens High and another year they were matched up with Savannah High.
