An unusually tall Subdivided Warren Pony Truss bridge spanning the Leon River on County Road 222 in Hamilton County, Texas. Built in 1900 and at 133 feet long, this bridge is still in use today.
Notice the bracing only has 3 battens joining the members, not lattice or V-bracing. A cost cutting measure that allows them to be easily damaged by a crossing vehicle. This bridge is fortunate to not have been damaged by now. Those steel rods wouldn't do squat, and a slight bump from a car would deform the brace.
