Dec 18: Satsumas look better on Apple

I've been noticing that my pictures look washed out and less saturated when I view them from my galleries on PBase. I see them in iPhoto, iView Media Pro and Safari as rich and colourful as the Photoshop originals. But once on the web and viewed in Firefox or (heaven forbid) Internet Explorer, the colour is all but gone. Even my B&W pictures seem to lack the warm toning that I spent ages developing. All my uploads have an sRGB profile, as everyone recommends. The web IS sRGB apparently. But the only browser that seems to understand colour profiles is Apple's Safari. All the others ignore the profile. Great huh? So, if you want to see my photographs as I intend, then you're just going to have to buy a Mac and run Safari... Unless I'm missing something!

I processed this to give a shocking oversaturated look. But you won't see it in IE. If you're viewing on a Mac, maybe you could try comparing this in Safari and IE/Firefox and tell me if you see a difference.

Funny you should mention this. I use a Mac and Safari and everything looks pretty good to me. I also noticed today that MS has decided to discontinue IE for the Mac... no great loss, eh? I checked this in Netscape for Mac and the colors look comparable, but the contrast curve looks a little washed out... I don't have IE here at home, but when I get back to work in January, I'll start comparing and let you know what I find...
