Everybody, who has been to NYC knows, that it's the
noisiest place on earth. On one of my never ending
wanderings on Manhattan I heard russian mazurka
melodies played on a saxophone somewhere mixed with
all that noise. I followed the sounds and came to a
place outside an empty store, where an old man
(Anatolij) was playing for money sitting on a
bucket. I asked to take pictures of him. He answered,
that it was ok, if I send him one copy. I promised
to do so and had his adress. Between two melodies
he asked me, if I was interested to read his life
story, that he wrote himself. I said ok, and he
promised to send me a floppy disc.
He was born and raised in Moscow, Russia, then
deported to Siberia in the 30īs of the Soviet
authorities after he was grown up.
After the end of the communism era he moved to
the coast of the Black Sea in the beginning of
the 90īs then to USA after some years.
He told me, that he had met Marilyn Monroe,
Lee Harvey Oswald, Vladimir Lenin, Josef Stalin,
Adolf Hitler and his wife Eva Braun, Nikita
Khrushchev, Leonid Brezsnev an even Napoleon
Bonaparte. Well that did sound interesting.
After I returned to Denmark, I send his picture to
him and had a letter from him some time later and a
disc with his writings (about 200 very
well written pages) on both russian and english.
And it's true; he wrote, that he had met these
historic persons!
