This is an outstanding photo in my opinion! I am a huge Wilbur Smith fan, and with this picture I feel like Sean Courtney in the early 1900's. Great Job, thanks for sharing ~ definately GMV!!!

Outstanding image, perfect framing that gives a real sense of movement. The B&W treatment enhances the entire image. Bravo. GMV

Fred, thank you for your comment. It is quite difficult not to be obvious when taking pictures of animals, as there is plenty of excellent pictures around from brilliant photographers. I have been so many times to Africa and probably shot a few thousands pictures, but the eye adapts slowly to local conditions and when you are ready to capture the spirit of an animal .. you have to go back home as your holiday is over. However, as I recently moved to digital, I find the possibility to work with my pictures after I have taken them, a way to recreate the same feeling, albeit this is quite hard. The funny story is that the winning picture of the 2005 BBC-Natural History Museum competition for best nature photographer of the year here in London was shot in ... Rome!

Very nice image - I'm not an animal picture person, but I like the feel of this picture
