Feeding Time

Sheila Lawrence is another reason for the rise in population of the Trumpeter Swans in this area. Beginning some 15 or 20 years ago, Sheila took pleasure in feeding the ducks and geese that frequented the river along her back yard. She was surprised when a handful of swans showed up one morning and fed them as well. Now her daily 10:30am feedings are a ritual among the swan community. They fly in from down river to partake in Sheila's generosity.
