Beautiful image, Mike. I love the transparency of the wings. Helen

Really a beautiful shot Mike and a gorgeous bird! I like everything about this image. Very nice indeed!

Well captured, Mike...I like how the tree bows from the weight of the bird and how the wings are outstretched to achieve balance. Your view looking up gives us a good appreciation of the translucency of the feathers. Nice detail and lighting on the body of the bird too. MFC

Mike,
It's so nice to see them in their natural habitat instead of inside a cage. It's a very fun shot and really shows the beauty of the bird. Excellent clarity and detail.

Excellent shot, Mike. Good composition and very dynamic with the outstretched wing and the bent treetop.

Thanks Bev and Zahid. It's one of the things I really enjoyed about the CP5700 - having a reasonable zoom range in a compact all-in-one. I'm sure I'll be back eventually! :-)

Bev, our white cockies are commonly seen flocking in outer suburbia in Australia, and they're born clowns, often hanging momemtarily upside down (even by one foot) apparently for the sheer enjoyment of it. Their call is such an appalling, deafening 'scraawwwk!' that you can't do much other than laugh at it (after you've recovered!).

It breaks my heart to see people confining them to small enclosures.

Some more shots here, the flock being routinely seen at my previous neighbour's:

Amazing detail on this bird, Mike. I especially like the tranlucent feathers on the outstretched wing. Are these birds quite social, or do you have to search for them? Bev
