An old trade contract anno 1917 from our family relics, through a magnifier glass.

I think that you can't use a little f-stop (to have a shallow DOF and a blurred background), otherwise the magnifiyng glass would be on focus only in the center. I think that this picture is perfect as it is.

After some further hesitations I changed back to the original version. If I look a paper through a magnifier, the backround becomes blured, but remains still readable to me. MCsaba

Great shot! I really love the idea! The composition is perfect too! To choose the right background is very important, and the old contract is perfect!!!
I don't like the blur effect very much. Can't tell you if it seems artificial or if it is too much.

Please forgive me if I'm wrong, but the added blur looks more "Photoshop" than optical to me!
I think the amount of background blur is fine, but it looks slightly artificial.

This is a great idea and well executed. I like the sharpness of the image and the texture of the paper within the magnifying glass.
My only suggestion is to have slightly less DOF, ie. make the background more out of focus so that the magnifying glass actually makes it readable.
