Knobs by iotatau

Mike and Jason, thanks for commenting! I've uploaded a new version. Change: with possibly my most awkward tripod position yet I used f/8 (FZ5 maximum) and 1/2 s. New background. I had to delete the previous image version and upload the new one separately to update the EXIF information. I saved your comments by copy & paste.

Agree with Mouse - great concept (composition) for the pic, however I really think you could improve this pic by using a smaller aperture to expand your depth of field a little. You could still go for the blurred background, but I think by using the lens' sweet spot in this case you could have the foreground subject in crystal clear focus.

Great combination of lines in this image, especially the lined up knots that run towards the upper right corner are great. I would like to see some more detail in the background and a slightly sharper front-knob though. Perhaps a smaller aperture will enhance the image even further?

IO,

I just had to say that both of your pics are great ... you got my vote for both of them.

Do you by chance belong to "DPChallenge.com"?

If you have never been there, check it out - there are a lot more people over there and some really great pics ... they don't provide as much info about the pics as they do here, but they do have a really cool voting system and the website is dedicated to photo challenges, making the place very popular.

take care

Hey I really love it - this pic is great!

Your DOF is fantastic and I like the stacking of the drawers - I know you went that extra mile for the camera angle and it paid off because the composition really leads your eye around the image.

Very nicely done and my vote for best improvement over your original pic that was all fuzzed out with that low aperture ... you got my vote ... great job and hope to see ya in next week's challenge.
