Wheal Betsy

Sunday 20th November 2005 - Day 337

I had an excellent idea for a dawn photo this morning, except when I got there, I found the only part of the area with a layer of cloud above it!

Still.... a pmail conversation with Linda yesterday evening set me thinking, I've featured Wheal betsy before, but not for a while. It is an old Lead and Silver mine, not operated since the late 19th century. The crocked chimney is not optical, it really is that bent!

The sky is real btw, just had to a little blending...

These mines are great reminders of very hard working days & harsh conditions that men had to do as there were no choices. Fantastic image Lee.

fantastic treatment. But getting up at dawn.... I like the idea but not the execution.

I cannot IMAGINE getting up before dawn for a picture on my day off!!! Since I have to do THAT on a daily basis, doing it for fun has little appeal . however . . this IS an excellent shot and MAYBE I might be tempted if . . . .

Love the unusual perspective and that stormy sky just sets this off perfectly. Good composition.

A very dramatic sky is the perfect backdrop for the dramatic angle you've chosen for this unique structure. Nice!

I love the perspective the wide end of the lens has created. Great composition, I love the way the clouds have turned out and the interesting bent chimney.
