Here's the reel frame with the spool removed, showing the click spring
and "dart" The point of the dart engages with a gear on the back of the
spool to make the clicking sound, and keep the spool from freewheeling.
A button on the other side pulls the dart out of the spring, disingaging
it from the gear and allowing the reel to spin freely. The crosspieces
were turned on a watchmaking lathe, and staked like a rivet where they
protrude through the rings. The reel foot was formed with a simple die,
then staked in place.
