In the spring time a splash of colour erupts across the alpine countryside.
Wild flowers flourish abundantly along the road side here each year.

This photo was taken near Wanaka in Central Otago, New Zealand last year. The intense violet blue of these flowers is actually far more vivid than my camera could accurately portray.
