motion study part III

I am experimenting more with motion in large part because I am trying to decide what to do
about the lensbaby. This photo here was taken several weeks ago and in fact had a fair amount
of motion blur straight out of the camera. I added a bit more as I was playing with effects.

It is interesting to me to consider whether it is more artistic if I convey motion with a lensbaby,
or if I convey it with panning, or if it is simply conveyed by using photoshop filters.
I am curious to hear what other people's thoughts are about this

I am also curious to find out if this photo produces any sort of emotional reaction in anyone.

Thanks in advance for your considered comments...

The blur gives the motion a sense of urgency, at least to me. It feels as though they are fleeing. I agree with Gayle that there is a sinister feel to the hairy arm and tattoo (?) My personal preference is not for the lens baby effect, which looks "arty" to me. Panning and modest enhancement give a more natural effect, imho.

I really like the motion blur, I think it gives the image great energy! Such interesting contrasts in this picture. I agree with others that the effect of the blur makes it seem the man is pulling the girl away. Vote.

I'm with Gayle on this--because the man is so much bigger, and the motion of him going out of the right part of the image makes me sense he's pulling her away.
It's a little disturbing to be honest, the more I look.

I'd like to think if you can get the shot in camera by whatever means, it's better, only for the time saved from processing, which sometimes can look forced (not here tho)

ohhh Liza! I'm glad i looked on the meta (had a few minutes finally) .. this is spectacular!! the motion of her hair makes me think she is walking with such a bounce to her step.. speaks of happiness..

Very Lovely Image. I agree it does convey the joy of this child.

I like this, Liza. It has the feel of interrupted motion. The girl's hair, the little flower under her hair and that small hand engulfed in the larger one is a strong contrast to the man's arm. The tattoo on his arm and the really large and hairy hand makes you fearful for the little girl.
