The local people naturally dried herrings in winter by unique drying method of freezing and drying of herrings, and this was called the Gwamegi. Recently, fishery quantity of herrings has reduced, so the sauries are used instead of herrings. The origin of the word, Gwamegi comes from the word "Gwanmok" meaning skewering fish in the eye, and it has changed to "GwamegiĄ" After peeling the skin and the bones of properly dried Gwamegi, garnish raw seaweed, and small green onion, and eating it with soju( the traditional korean wine) will give you the most delicious and unique experience.
