I played around these as a boy in the seventies. My parents were missionaries. We lived just north of the Valley of the Moon (near the iron-work statue of Atlas holding up the world, if you recall seeing this). We would even jump from point to point on the smaller caps, watching gravel and dust drop down into a seemingly endless void. There were folk tales of animals and children falling in and living under these.
