M74

Skunk Hollow Observatory

M74 (Messier 74). Shot using a Meade LX200 10" f/6.3 telescope at approx. f/4.7 using a SBIG ST-2000XM with a color filter wheel (CFW8a). 50 minutes (10 x 5) luminance at 2x2 binned. Acquired using CCDOps. Aligned and combined in CCDSoft 5. Dark and light frames applied. Adjusted histogram in Adobe Photoshop 6.0. Self guided by the SBIG ST-2000XM imager. Good transparency but terrible seeing made guiding difficult. Wind between 10-15 mph. I thought the core of M74 was blown out too far in the original image. I adjusted the histogram some and was able to get an acceptable image.
