Michaela

Chatsworth House gardens

Well, I haven't been posting a PaD shot for a few months now so I think it's about time I got back into it. I have been doing a lot of shooting over the summer and I have got seriously behind in my processing, which I am now attempting to bring up to date. As such, although I will be posting a shot each day, it may be one I have processed that day (or maybe recently). This is because, much as I would like to go out each day shooting for my PaD, to do so would mean that other nice shots I have already taken will possibly never get processed.

The shots I choose to post will sometimes be one I have taken that day, otherwise I will choose one that I am interested in knowing other people's views on, using the PaD gallery as a sounding board for opinions which will help me improve my photography.

I will kick things off with this portrait I shot a couple of weeks ago, part of a shoot I did with this model at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. Although the sun did come out for a short while, most of the day was dull, overcast and cold. Because of this most of the shots were dull & flat and needed a little added 'zing' in processing. This is one of my favourite shots from the shoot which I have attempted to make 'sunnier', I also gave it a little soft focus.

So, opinions please ? Both on the actual shot and the photoshopping would be appreciated - Good or bad, they all help me assess my work.

Oh yes, the original shot (with a little basic processing and tweaked eyes) can be found by clicking on this thumbnail:

The rest of the shoot can be viewed by clicking this thumbnail, which will take you to the second image in the gallery:

Many thanks for any comments and help.

I think you did a great job on this photo. Soft focus doesn't appear much. Everyone is focusing on sharpness (pun intended). I think you chose a perfect shot to treat in this way. The color/saturation adjustment is very well done. I would like to see some small amount of detail in the hat. But the lack of it is not that noticeable.
