I reworked this image a bit and tried to implement some of the suggestions. One main thing I figured out was how to resize a selection so I was able to get the two moons the same size and keep them from interfering with the natural edges of the pupils. Jim H.
Well, those moon shots are in full color :) It's just that the moon is pretty much a black and white place. Imagine how boring things would be there! Like you say, the reflections in the backs of her eyes are sort of green as I recall. Not Red-Eye, but Green-Eye. Maybe a touch of that would be approprate.
I have had folks ask about the spot on Lucy's nose before. It's just a spot of pigment and one of her charming characteristics. But like you say, it does sort of draw the eye so maybe I should clone it out for this shot :) When I get around to playing with this again, I'll keep all of these suggestions in mind. I need to find a better way to paste these in too. I will have to do a bit of playing this weekend.
Jim, I really like this idea. I didn't notice that the moons were different sizes but it bothers me that they are b&w. I think they would fit into the image better if they had a hint of color, green perhaps? Like the light that shines from the back of cat and dog eyes. I also wonder if you could clone out the spot on the kittens nose, it might be less distracting if the nose was all pink. Great concept! ~Sharon
I agree. I am not very skilled yet with this sort of photo editing. I also wasn't able to insert the moons exactly the way I wanted because the tool that I used automatically inserted them into the selected areas and it resized them to fit which wasn't exactly what I had in mind. I figure both moons should be exactly the same size as if they're reflections. As it is, the one on the viewer's right seems larger because it was autosized to fit the selected area. I also have another shot of the cat that is a bit more evil-looking due to more dramatic lighting - but this one seemed to be a better shot overall. I'll have to play some more when I get some time. Thanks :) Jim H.
Hmmm, I'm kind of twisted...really like the idea, Jim, she looks like evil. But I am not really sure about her eyes, the "contrast" seems to be too sharp/hard for my eyes...maybe a little blurr at the edges? ~ Armin
