(lyrics modified somewhat by benjie)
There's an institution south of Market on 7th called beer joint
And among the regular patrons was usually a charmer
around 25 -- 20 on a real good day.
She used to come into the bar all by herself, sit down,
order a beer and drink it out of a bottle.
Usually got longish brown or burgundy hair...fair skin, freckles.
One night shes sitting in the bar and this guy benji
comes in and he sits a little ways down from her.
She turns, looks at him and smiles, walks over and
sits down and she says,
Why hello say haven't we met?
Oh yes, it was last year right here at the bar.
She says honey I sure hope I don't hurt, hurt your
feelings when I tell you this, I don't remember your name but
I remember you. We were two people who were tired of the
lives we lived
We both were looking for a change.
And you told me your story, and I listened, and then
I told you mine,
We spent the evening making everything right.
hmm hmm, you're looking fine and I'm glad to tell you
that I'm feeling happy too
Oh, you still got those pretty naans and that spicy curry
I don't remember your name but I remember you.
Well we sat there at the bar laughing and chatting
And every now and then you'd look up in the mirror,
And hanging above our heads was one of those
Miller High Life signs.
You know the kind I mean, got a clock on one side and
a sailboat on the other.
Honey, you told me your story, and I listened,
and then I told you mine.
We spent the evening making everything right.
I'm glad, ah honey, your looking so fine, hmm hmm, and
I'm glad to tell you that I'm feeling happy too.
I'm no longer sad and blue.
You still got those pretty naans and that spicy curry
I don't remember your name but I remember you.
Oh honey, I'm sorry I forot your name but
I remember you.
