I first saw these "mating trees" in November 2000 when visiting Austin, Texas. They are on the grounds of the state capitol. I have considered writing a letter to the Texas governor expressing outrage at this indecency. ;-) But, to tell you the truth, I'm afraid they'd actually cut them down! It is Texas, after all... When I first spied these passionate trees, there was a young couple sitting beneath the trees kissing. I wondered if they had any inkling of why they chose that particular spot. Whenever I visit Austin, I photograph these trees. I will add a few of those other photographs soon.
